Sharon’s Defensive Driving School is committed to clearly informing every student and parent of its payment, cancellation, and refund requirements before instruction begins.
GENERAL NONREFUNDABLE-PAYMENT POLICY
Payment or a deposit reserves a student’s seat, classroom placement, behind-the-wheel appointment, or other scheduled service. Once Sharon’s Defensive Driving School confirms the reservation and the seat or appointment has been held for more than 24 hours, the payment is generally nonrefundable if the student:
- Cancels or withdraws from the program.
- Chooses not to attend.
- Fails to appear for a scheduled class, driving session, or road-skills test.
- Arrives without the required Temporary Instruction Permit, identification, or other required documentation.
- Is late, misses required instruction, or fails to comply with attendance, behavior, safety, cellphone, or scheduling policies.
- Fails to complete the program within the applicable completion period for reasons within the student’s or parent’s control.
- Is otherwise unable or unwilling to complete the service while the school remains ready, willing, and able to provide the agreed-upon instruction or service.
A student’s payment is not automatically refundable merely because the student changes plans, becomes unavailable, fails to attend, or does not successfully complete or pass a course, knowledge examination, driving session, or road-skills test.
REFUNDS REQUIRED OR PERMITTED
Notwithstanding the general nonrefundable-payment policy, Sharon’s Defensive Driving School will provide refunds when required by Louisiana law, Louisiana Administrative Code Title 55, or the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles.
1. School Unable to Complete the Course
If Sharon’s Defensive Driving School is unable to complete a student’s course, the parent of a minor student or an adult student may request a refund for the uncompleted portion of the course.
The applicable refund will be made available within 10 days after the school receives the request.
2. School Closure
If Sharon’s Defensive Driving School closes voluntarily or is closed by the Louisiana Department of Public Safety, a student or parent may request a refund for instruction or services that were paid for but not provided.
The refund will be processed within 30 days after the effective date of the school’s closure or the date of the refund request, whichever occurs sooner.
3. Uncompleted Behind-the-Wheel Instruction
When behind-the-wheel instruction is terminated or cannot be completed within the required period for reasons attributable to the school, the student may be entitled to a refund of the amount paid for the uncompleted behind-the-wheel instruction.
4.No refund is required when the school documents that the student was given sufficient notice and a reasonable opportunity to complete the instruction but failed to do so for reasons within the student’s or parent’s control, except as otherwise required by law.
5. Road-Skills Test Refund
When a road-skills test cannot legally or safely be administered, including when an examiner reasonably suspects that an applicant is impaired, the applicant will receive any refund of the road-skills-testing fee required by Title 55.
6. Misrepresentation
Tuition and fees will be refundable when a student’s enrollment was obtained through a material misrepresentation contained in the school’s advertising or promotional materials or made by the school’s owner or an authorized employee.
7.An approved refund under this provision will be completed within 30 days.
REFUND CALCULATION
Unless a full refund is required by law, refunds will be limited to the amount paid for the portion of instruction or service that Sharon’s Defensive Driving School did not provide.
Instruction, materials, testing, transportation, vehicle use, or other services already provided may be deducted when permitted by law. No deduction will be made if doing so would conflict with Title 55 or another applicable Louisiana requirement.

A parent or adult student requesting a refund should submit a written request containing:

- The amount and date of payment.
- The reason for requesting the refund.
